Northern Bus Division Bus Operation and Maintenance Facility Replacement

The project includes demolition and replacement of existing Bus Operation and Maintenance facility. The new facility will have bus parking of seventy five - 43’ long buses and seventy five articulated - 66’ long buses at lower level, bus maintenance at level above and 375 employee parking spaces on the top deck. Solar panels on top of employee parking spaces will be provided. Offices, common office areas, conference rooms, and associated ancillary space are provided for staff and employees. EPCM is responsible for design of entire electrical lighting, power (including medium voltage switchgear), two UPS (100 KVA and 62.5 KVA), 3750 KW generator, lightning protection, fire alarm and communication system which includes telephone/data, paging/public address, CCTV, electronic access control system, intercommunication system, emergency phone system, cable TV including SCADA for AC room. 3750 KW generator will backup entire facility except bus wash and paint booth. 100 KW UPS with batteries in a separate room is designed. PEPCO will provide 13.2 KV service, design include medium voltage switchgear, 5000 A 480 V switchgear, and other switchgear, switchboards and infrastructure as required. Design include addition of electrical system for entire bus facility to be covered to electrical buses. EPCM is responsible for design of 13.2 KV Main-Tie-Main-Tie-Main switchgear to feed power to the electrical bus charging system. EPCM is also responsible for design of 13.2 KV – 277/480 volt unit substation to support BEB system. EPCM is also responsible for design of non revenue vehicles charging system on the roof. All the lighting is LED and project will be LEED Platinum. Responsivities includes construction period services.
